Monthly Labour Market Fac Sheet Europe's unemployment rate edged up to 9.7 % in September 2011, or by 0.1 pp. This is 0.3 pp up on March 2011 and is the same level as the peak recorded in the first half of 2010. Unemployment in the euro area also increased by the same proportion, hitting 10.2%.




Employment Social Development in Europe 2011 The economic, financial and sovereign debt crises and subsequent austerity measures underline the need for a more integrated approach to employment and social policy. This review merges two previous European Commission reports on these areas. It begins with an overview of the current European employment and social situation before looking at recent shifts in Europe's job structure and in income inequality.
Working and ageing Article CEDEFOP- With the average age of the working population increasing, Europeans now have to work longer. How can these extended careers become more successful and satisfying? And how can lifelong guidance and counselling specifically support older workers?



This publication presents findings from 53 study visits during 2009/10 focused on preparing and supporting youth integration into the labour market and reducing unemployment among young people. This is one of European priorities supported by the Youth on the move initiative which focuses on policies and practices to support flexible learning modes and pathways for young people, easing their transition from education and training to the labour market and developing their entrepreneurial skills and competences
